PILSEN — A dog was killed after biting a Chicago police officer Thursday in Pilsen, police said.
About 11:30 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1600 block of South Wood Street, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.
During the investigation, a dog a bit an officer in the hand and leg and was killed, Tannehill said. Police did not have more information about the dog's breed or how the animal was killed, but said it was "destroyed."
The injured officer was transported to Rush University Medical Center, where his condition was said to be stable.
