Jomontae Freeman, 20, Killed In Near West Side, Officials Say

CHICAGO — Jomontae Freeman, 20, was shot to death in the Near West Side on Monday night, officials said.

At 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 1600 block of West Monroe Street and found the man in the backseat of a silver car, police said. The man had been shot in his head and throughout his body.

Freeman, of the 3600 block of West Chicago Avenue, was pronounced dead at 11:36 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.

No one was in custody.
