WEST LOOP — City officials are planning a new field house at Skinner Park, a West Loop alderman announced Tuesday.
At a ribbon cutting ceremony at "The Station," the Chicago Children's Theatre's new West Loop home, Burnett said a new field house at nearby Skinner Park is now in the works.
"This project has not only helped the community to get a new theater, it also helped this community to get an expansion of a school and a park facility," Burnett said of the children's theater. "So it was a good deal."
After the ceremony, Burnett said the Chicago Park District has budgeted approximately $10 million toward a new field house. Neighborhood Opportunity Fund dollars will be committed to the project, too, Burnett said.
The new field house would replace a smaller one at the 7.3-acre park, 1331 W. Monroe St.
Chicago Park District officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
