Hyde Park, Kenwood Shootings Wound 2 People, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings in Hyde Park and Kenwood wounded two people on Tuesday, police said.

• At 9:03 p.m., a 20- to 25-year-old man was shot in Hyde Park, police said. The man was standing on the sidewalk, talking with another man and two women, in the 5100 block of South Blackstone Avenue.

During the conversation, the other man took out a gun and fired shots at the victim, police said. The victim was hit in his head and shoulders and taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition.

• At 3:57 p.m., a 17-year-old was shot in Kenwood, police said. The man was walking in the 4600 block of South Ellis Avenue when a light-colored car drove by and someone inside fired shots at the man.

The man was hit in his chest and taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

No one was in custody.
