LOGAN SQUARE — A fight between a group of men Monday afternoon in Logan Square near The 606 trail ended in gunfire, but no one was hurt, police said.

Around 1:35 p.m., a group of men got into a fight in the 1800 block of North Spaulding Avenue, prompting one of the men to fire shots, according to police. No one was injured.

Neighbors said the fight was between a group of seven to 10 teenage boys and a man who lives in a modern loft building steps away from the 606. Apart from two large loft buildings, the quiet block is lined with vintage flats.

According to neighbors, the boys and the man got into a fight either on or near the 606, and the boys ran to the building where the man lives and started pounding on the glass to try and get in, prompting the man to fire a shot to "scare" the boys away.

"I'm glad he got arrested," said one neighbor, who declined to provide her name for safety reasons. "I hope this fight doesn't carry over and continue."

Neither police nor the office of Ald. Joe Moreno (1st) could immediately confirm this information.

A 39-year-old man is being questioned in the shooting, police said.

An investigation is ongoing.
