CHICAGO — Police will have extra patrols along Lake Shore Drive that will be looking for drunken drivers and other scofflaws over the New Year's Eve weekend, the department said Friday.
A "DUI saturation patrol" will be launched along Lake Shore Drive in Downtown and the Near North Side starting 6 p.m. Friday and lasting until 2 a.m. Saturday, Chicago Police said in a press release.
The extra police presence along the stretch will look for signs of impaired driving as well as speeders and people not wearing seat belts, police said.
Police conducted a similar saturation patrol last week in the Bridgeport-based Deering District and gave out 16 tickets, including one for driving under the influence, police said.
