CHICAGO — Two girls ages 13 and 14 were wounded in a shooting in Gresham Monday night, police said.

They were sitting in a van in the 7500 block of South Union Avenue when two men fired shots into the vehicle, police said. A 2-year-old boy was also in the vehicle but was uninjured.

The driver of the van, a 28-year-old father of the 13-year-old girl, had left the car and was inside a residence before the shooting occurred, police said.

The 14-year-old was hit in her back and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, and the 13-year-old was grazed in her arm and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, police said.

It was unknown if the girls were the intended targets of the shooting, police said. The father of the 13-year-old is a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody.
