CHICAGO — A Portage Park man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2014 murder of another man near his home, according to court records.

Zachary Stinson, 27, was one of two men charged in the shooting death of Gabriel Meneses on Sept. 10, 2014.

Around 1 a.m. that day, Meneses, 31, was driving with his brother in the 5100 block of West Waveland Avenue when someone pulled up next to them in an SUV and fired shots, police said at the time.

Meneses, of suburban Norridge, was later pronounced dead, police said.

Weeks later, Stinson and another man were arrested in California and charged with second-degree murder.

Stinson, of the 4800 block of West Cornelia Avenue, pleaded guilty and was sent to the Stateville Correctional Center, according to court records. He will be credited for 2 years and 3 months served in the Cook County Jail.

Stinson was sentenced to a year in prison for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in 2011, according to state records.
