Teens Charged With Armed Robbery After Crashing Stolen Car Into Bus

CHICAGO — Four teenagers were charged in a string of robberies Wednesday after they crashed a stolen car into a CTA bus, officials said.

About 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, two teens got out of a car in the 4000 block of South Langley Avenue, pulled a gun, robbed a 20-year-old man on the street and drove off, police said.

Officers who responded to the robbery saw the car driving south on King Drive, police said, and the teens sped off and hit a CTA bus at 43rd and La Salle streets.

The teens got out of the car and ran but were taken into custody, police said.

A gun was found in the car the teens had driven, police said, and officers learned the car had been reported stolen from south suburban Matteson. Officers said they think the teens were responsible for four other armed robberies Wednesday morning.

Police said they found prescription drugs on a 17-year-old that he did not have a prescription for.

All four teens were charged with armed robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and criminal trespass to a car. The 17-year-old also was charged with possessing a controlled substance.

Four women who were on the bus suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to area hospitals, police said. Their conditions were not available, but police said they were all listed as "stable."
