OLD TOWN — Talk about your holiday cheer: An Old Town sports bar is visited by 12 beers of Christmas Wednesday night.

The Vig, 1527 N. Wells St., will have a dozen seasonal beers on hand at its back bar starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday as part of what it's calling the "12 Beers of Christmas Tap Takeover."

"There's a few that I'm really excited to have back," said Kacey Hocking, marketing director at the Vig, which is celebrating its second holiday season in Old Town after opening a year ago in October. Most rare, she added, was an Almond 22 Christmas Cru from Italy.

Yet much of the rage among Chicago beer geeks concerns local brews.

"One of my personal favorites that we have on tap is the Dovetail Holiday Bock," Hocking said. "Beer nerds around the city are really getting drawn to ... that local attention. We love the microbreweries.
