CHICAGO — Police in the Jefferson Park district will launch an operation to nab drunken drivers and other scofflaw motorists this weekend, police announced.
Starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, the district will launch a "DUI saturation patrol" in which police will look for drunken drivers, speeders, people not wearing seatbelts and other violations, police said.
The patrol will last until 2 a.m. Sunday morning, police said.
A similar crackdown last weekend in the Albany Park District, led to 91 total tickets being issued, including 51 for traffic violations and 29 for unsafe vehicle violations, police said.
One person was arrested for drunken driving.
