CHICAGO — Shootings have killed one man and wounded eight people since Thursday, police said.
At 4 p.m., a 31-year-old man was shot dead while driving in Englewood. He got into a car crash that injured a 5-year-old boy, 63-year-old woman and 21-year-old woman.
In non-fatal shootings:
• At 12:46 a.m. Friday, a 19-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale, police said. The man was playing dice outside in the 1200 block of South Troy Street when a person left the game, returned with a gun and fired shots at the man.
The man was hit in his arm and was taken to West Suburban Hospital in good condition, police said.
• At 12:09 a.m., a 17-year-old was shot in University Village while sitting in a car.
• At 9:30 p.m. Thursday, a 17-year-old was shot in Englewood.
• At 9:08 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was getting into a car in the 5600 block of West Washington Boulevard when another car pulled up and someone got out and fired shots at the man.
The man was hit multiple times throughout his body and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.
The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.
• At 5:57 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was in the 5700 block of West Augusta Boulevard when he heard shots and felt pain.
The man's arm was grazed by a bullet and he took himself to West Suburban Hospital, where he was in good condition, police said.
• At 3:16 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot while sitting in a parked car in Belmont Cragin.
• At 1:15 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in his face in Garfield Park.
• At 7:40 a.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in Little Village.
No one was in custody in these shootings unless otherwise noted.
