CHICAGO — A West Englewood 1-month-old boy died Wednesday from abuse, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

At 2:06 p.m. Wednesday, emergency responders found the boy, identified by the medical examiner's office as Timothy Harmon, unresponsive inside his home in the 6600 block of South Racine Avenue, according to police.

He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said the boy did not have "obvious" signs of trauma, but the medical examiner's office on Thursday said the boy died from child abuse and ruled his death a homicide. They did not elaborate on the kind of abuse the boy allegedly suffered.

South Side detectives are conducting a death investigation, police said. The Department of Child and Family Services is also investigating the death, and a spokeswoman said the agency has not had prior contact with the family.
