SOUTH LOOP — A man stole two safes out of a South Loop school Saturday and was captured on camera, according to police.

A $1,000 reward is being offered to anyone who can identify the man, who police say broke into a "business/school" Saturday in the 800 block of South Wabash Avenue. Employees said they suspected a burglary when they saw the building's front door pried open and noticed two safes were missing.

A representative of the school, BIR Training Center, a self-described "career and language learning center" at 828 S. Wabash Ave., declined to comment.

Police didn't disclose the value of the thefts, but said the safes contained "miscellaneous items" including cash.

The burglary was reported at 6:20 p.m. Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (312) 747-8382.
