CHICAGO — A shooting in East Side killed Paul Cruz, 31, on Sunday, officials said.
At 5 p.m., the man was standing in an alley in the 10300 block of South Avenue M when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and someone inside fired shots, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The man was hit in his stomach and was pronounced dead at the scene, Amezaga said.
The man was a documented gang member, police sources said.
Cruz, of the same block where he was killed, was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He was pronounced dead at 5:29 p.m.
No one was in custody.
