CHICAGO — A shooting in West Lawn killed Louis Antonio Torres, 31, on Saturday, officials said.
At 1:58 a.m., the man was driving in the 6800 block of South Springfield Avenue when someone fired shots at him, police said.
The man was hit in his chest and people he knew drove him to Holy Cross Hospital, police said. He was transferred to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition, but was later pronounced dead.
Torres, of Blue Island, was pronounced dead at 5:14 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
No one was in custody.
