Giovanni Garcia, 18, Killed In Little Village Shooting

CHICAGO — An 18-year-old man was shot to death in Little Village on Wednesday night, police said.

At 11 p.m., the man was in the driver's seat of a parked car in the 2400 block of South Springfield Avenue when a black SUV pulled up and someone inside it shot at him, police said.

The man was hit in his chest and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The man was identified as Giovanni Garcia, 18, of the 3000 block of South Springfield Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He was pronounced dead at 11:33 p.m.

The shooting appeared to be gang-related, police sources said.

No one was in custody.
