CHICAGO — A 29-year-old man died hours after being shot early Friday in Englewood, according to authorities.
At 11:30 a.m., a the man was in a parked car in the 6400 block of South Damen Avenue when a shooter appeared from a gangway and began firing before running back through the gangway, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.
He was struck in his chest, arms and back and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition before dying some 10 hours after being shot, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The man has been identified as Steven Cowan, of the 8500 block of South Hermitage Avenue, the medical examiner said.
