CHICAGO — Police are reviewing video footage they believe captured the fatal shooting of twin 17-year-olds in Old Town early Sunday.

Edwin and Edward Bryant were fatally shot in a drive-by shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, police said. The boys do not appear to be in a gang, but were with gang members at the time of the shooting, Supt. Eddie Johnson on Monday.

They were two of 17 people shot dead this weekend, the deadliest weekend of the year.

The teens were standing outside in the 1300 block of North Hudson Avenue when at 3:15 a.m. a dark car drove by and someone inside began firing, police said.

Edwin was shot in his chest and back and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Edward was shot in his chest and head and was listed in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead at 4:46 a.m. Sunday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

Detectives are reviewing the video from the scene and "substantial" progress has been made in the case, Johnson said.

The teens, identified by the medical examiner late Sunday, lived in the 700 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to the medical examiner.

They are twin brothers, according to the Chicago Tribune.

No arrests have been made.
