PULLMAN — Comcast has installed 50 Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots in outdoor locations in the Pullman Historic District and West Pullman Industrial Park, allowing existing customers to tap into the network and non-customers two free hours a month.

In addition to the outdoor spots, Comcast is touting the 400 Pullman businesses with hot spots the public can tap into — as well as the thousands of homes that give the opportunity to let outsiders log into an Xfinity connection.

All told, that's nearly 10,000 chances for customers to get a signal away from their home around Pullman. Non-customers can log in twice a month for up to one hour each time.

“The addition of Wi-Fi hotspots in Pullman will help area businesses and residents and also help attract visitors to Pullman,” said 9th Ward Ald. Anthony Beale. “I’m pleased that Comcast chose to invest in Pullman’s technology infrastructure.”

Customers with Xfinity's Home Hotspot feature can activate it, allowing people in range to log in. Comcast says it won't slow down your home network or require a password.

“People use the internet on the go all the time, but wireless data plans can be expensive, and megabytes can add up quickly,” said John Crowley, Comcast’s regional senior vice president. “Our goal in building the Xfinity Wi-Fi network is to provide a seamless Wi-Fi experience for area residents, businesses and visitors.”
