NORTH CENTER — Dig out your light sabers, set your phasers to "stun" and join the clash of the sci-fi franchise titans at Northman cider bar's "Battle of the Stars" Halloween costume contest.
The event will pit "Star Wars" fans against their "Star Trek" counterparts, with prizes awarded to the most cleverly clad.
The fun kicks off at 6 p.m., Monday, 4337 N. Lincoln Ave. There's no cover charge, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.
The cider will be flowing, and the Northman is also promising to serve Saurin* brandy and Cardassian** coolers. Anyone who gets either of those references should feel right at home.
* Saurins were featured in the famous cantina scene from the original "Star Wars" movie.
** The Cardassian species of extraterrestrials was introduced in "Star Trek: The Next Generation."
