CHICAGO — As the Windy City prepares for another long, cold and snowy winter, daily CTA commuters can't help but ask: When are those heat lamps going to start working again?

Good news: Although the heat lamps are labeled to work between Nov. 1 and March 31, the heaters are already warming up the platforms, according to CTA spokesperson Irene Ferradaz.

The heat lamps usually start operating mid-October and get turned off around March 31, Ferradaz said.
