Englewood Shootings Wound 2 People, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings in Englewood left two people wounded on Tuesday, police said.

• At 3 p.m., a 31-year-old man was getting off a bus in the 5500 block of South Damen Avenue when a white Jeep drove by and someone inside it fired shots, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was hit in his buttocks and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," Amezaga said.

He is a documented gang member, police said.

• At 1:25 p.m., a 31-year-old man was in a fight with a person he knew in the 400 block of West 61st Street when the person took out a gun and fired shots, Amezaga said.

The man was hit in his elbow and leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," Amezaga said.

He is a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody.
