CHICAGO — A shooting in South Shore left Aaron Smith, 36, dead late Wednesday, police said.
At 11:10 p.m., Smith was standing in the street in the 7400 block of South Chappel Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, police said.
Smith was hit in his chest and groin and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition, police said.
Smith, of the 7400 block of South Chappel Avenue, was pronounced dead at 11:56 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
No one was in custody.
