RAVENSWOOD — Ravenswood's brewers and distillers are partnering with Ravenswood Community Services to help feed the area's hungry.

The Spirits of Ravenswood event, scheduled for 7-11 p.m., Oct. 21, will feature tasting samples from Koval Distillery, Begyle Brewing and more to raise funds for Ravenswood Community Services' food pantry and community kitchen.

The food pantry, founded in 1993 as an outreach program of All Saints Episcopal Church, has grown from distributing groceries to 20 neighbors a week up to 250. The community kitchen, which started providing a weekly hot meal to neighbors in 1998, served 5,000 meals in 2015.

The Spirits of Ravenswood, now in its fourth year, is one of Ravenswood Community Services two major fundraisers, along with the annual Ravenswood Run 5K.

The fundraiser will be held at the Ravenswood Event Center, 4025 N. Ravenswood Ave. Tickets are $85 and can be purchased in advance online.

The evening also includes small bites, a DJ and dancing, photo booth and a silent auction.

Participants include Half Acre Beer Company, Metropolitan Brewing, Begyle Brewing, North Shore Distillery, Empirical Brewery, Lagunitas Brewing, Aquanaut Brewing, Koval Distillery, Few Spirits, Spiteful Brewing, Dovetail Brewery, Letherbee Distillers and O’Shaughnessy’s Public House.
