RAVENSWOOD — Got winning whiskers?

Chicago's hirsute wonders will compete for Best in Show during Empirical Brewery's Beardtober Fest from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at 1801 W. Foster Ave.

Winners will be crowned in five categories, ranging from the bushiest lumberjack to the wispiest peach fuzz, and then face off for the top prize.

To participate in this battle of the beards, email Steve Milford at steve.milford@empiricalbrewery.com or sign up at the brewery — 21 and older only. The cost to enter the contest is $20, with proceeds benefiting Ravenswood Community Services.

The categories are: full beard under 6 inches (measured from bottom of lip); full beard longer than 6 inches; partial beard, including goatee, mutton chops, etc.; mustache; and follicly challenged, open to anyone, creativity encouraged.

The winners of each category — decided by a panel of experts — will receive a $25 Empirical gift card and a gift certificate from either Esquire Barber Shop or Father & Son Barber Shop.

Best in Show will be decided by popular vote, with ballots available for $10. The champ will receive $100 cash and have his (or her) photo displayed in the brewery's taproom.
