CHICAGO — Police are asking Logan Square and Wicker Park residents to be on the lookout following a string of armed robberies in the area.

At least four people have been robbed at gunpoint in the area since Aug. 26, police said in a community alert.

In the incidents, a man walks up to his victims before showing a gun and demanding their belongings, police said.

Photos from a security camera show the masked man inside a convenient store, with either an employee or patron laying face-down on the floor behind him. Though liquor stores are located at these addresses, police would not say whether the robberies happened inside or outside in all instances.

The robberies happened at:

• 3:56 p.m. on Aug. 26 at 2222 N. Western Ave. in Logan Square

• 5 p.m. on Sept. 13 in the 1900 block of North California Avenue in Logan Square

• 8:35 p.m. on Sept. 20 at 2501 W. North Ave. in Wicker Park

• 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 22 at 3048 W. Fullerton Ave. in Logan Square

Police have described the robber as a black man, aged 20 to 30, standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10 and weighing between 150 and 175 pounds.

He was caught on security camera wearing a black mask pulled over his face and can be seen wearing a blue t-shirt, jeans and either blue and white or red shoes.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call area detectives at 312-744-8263.
