BEVERLY — A string of four garage burglaries in East Beverly has prompted the Chicago Police Department to issue a community alert.
All the burglaries happened between midnight and 8 a.m. in the span of 18 days, beginning Sept. 15. The burglar entered the garages through a side door that is either unlocked or by using a pry tool, police said.
Once in the garage, the burglar steals items from bikes to snow blowers. The thief also enters unlocked vehicles parked in the garages and steals items, police said.
All the burglaries happened on Beat 2212. Here's a list of when and where the break-ins took place:
• between midnight and 8 a.m. Sept. 15 in the 1600 block of West 105th Place
• between midnight and 6:20 a.m. Sept. 21 in the 1700 block of West 105th Street
• between midnight and 7:25 a.m. Sunday in the 10500 block of South Wood Street
• between midnight and 6 a.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of West 105th Street
Police recommend locking backyard gates and garage doors. They also recommend locking vehicles parked within garages. Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call Area South Detectives at 312-747-8273.
