BUDLONG WOODS — Police caught two robbers near Legion Park Tuesday morning before the victim even had time to report the crime, according to 40th Ward Ald. Pat O'Connor.

O'Connor sent a community alert to constituents after receiving details of the crime from the Lincoln Police District.

A woman was robbed at 9:40 a.m. in the park's underpass at Bryn Mawr Avenue.

Officers patrolling the area witnessed the robbery and were able to catch the suspects near the scene, before the victim dialed 911, the alderman said.

Two suspects are now in custody, according to O'Connor.

The underpass at Bryn Mawr, like those at Foster and Peterson avenues, is part of the North Shore Channel bike and pedestrian trail, a popular path for joggers, cyclists and dog walkers.

The Chicago Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for more information about the suspects.
