Lee Stemley, 26, Dies 6 Days After Englewood Shooting

ENGLEWOOD — Lee Stemley, 26, died on Thursday night, six days after being shot in Englewood, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

At 5:40 p.m. on Sept. 16, Stemley was standing on the sidewalk with another man in the 5900 block of South Union Avenue when "numerous" shots were fired, police said at the time.

One of the men fell to the ground, and when he got up he saw his friend, Stemley, had been shot in his head, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Stemley, of the 6300 block of South King Drive, was pronounced dead at 6:18 p.m. on Sept. 22.

Police said the man was a documented gang member.
