Robbers Targeting Stores, Pedestrians In Marquette Park, Police Say

CHICAGO — Police are asking Marquette Park neighbors to be on the lookout after a string of robberies targeting stores and pedestrians in the area.

At least five people have been robbed in the area since Sept. 9, police said.

Two of the incidents included armed robbers who pointed a handgun at their victim before demanding their property, police said. At least one of those incidents included a store robbed at gunpoint, but police did not specify which incident that was.

The armed robberies happened at:

• 11:10 a.m. Saturday in the 2900 block of West 63rd Street

• 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 6300 block of South Kedzie Avenue

Three other robberies in the area did not involved an armed robber, police said. In those incidents, a robber walked up to a person from behind before grabbing them by the shoulder and demanding their property, according to police.

Those incidents happened at:

• 11:30 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 7100 block of South Talman Avenue

• 1 p.m. Sept. 12 in the 3500 block of West Marquette Road

• 4 p.m. Sunday in the 6700 block of South Kedzie Avenue
