Group Of Robbers Surround Victims, Demand Belongings In Bronzeville: Police

CHICAGO — Police are asking Bronzeville residents to be on the lookout after a string of robberies in the area.

At least four people have been robbed by the same group of men in the area since Sept. 9, police said in a community alert.

In the incidents, the men surround their victims as they walk on the sidewalk then demand or forcibly remove the person's belongings before running away, police said.

The robberies happened:

• At 11:05 a.m. Sept. 9 in the 3300 block of South King Drive

• Between 3:50-4:10 p.m. Sept. 13 in the 3300 block of South King Drive

• At 12:50 p.m. Sept. 13 in the 3400 block of South King Drive

• Between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 3300 block of South Calumet Avenue

Police have described the robbers as three-to-four black man, aged 14 to 25 years, standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-11 and weighing between 90 and 190 pounds.
