LINCOLN SQUARE — Another weekend packed with food, drinks and fun gives September a solid chance to be the best month ever.

Get out and enjoy these events in and around Lincoln Square:

Savory Spice Shop is celebrating its third anniversary on Saturday with free pulled pork sandwiches. Swing by at 11:30 a.m., 4753 N. Lincoln Ave., while supplies last.

• St. Ben's wildly popular kids and baby clothes rummage sale is back, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, 3941 N. Bell Ave.

Pick up deals on clothing for infants and children, maternity wear, Halloween costumes, games, toys, sports equipment, baby strollers/furniture/gear — basically anything kids and parents eventually outgrow. Admission is $1, free between noon and 1 p.m. when all items are half-priced.

• It wouldn't be the weekend without a beer fest. Head to Independence Park, 4-8 p.m. Saturday, to sample offerings from more than a dozen local craft brewers, along with live music and food trucks. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online. 3945 N. Springfield Ave.

• It's Kids Day at the Horner Park Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, 2741 W. Montrose Ave. Stop by for face painting, music, an animal farm and more.

• Northeastern Illinois University is opening up its alumni weekend festivities to the entire community. Friday's Fall Fest runs 3-9 p.m. (click here for details) and Saturday's picnic is set for noon to 2:30 p.m.

• Make your own books at Sunday's bookbinding workshop hosted by North Branch Projects at First Slice Pie Cafe, 6-7:30 p.m., 4664 N. Manor Ave. The fee is a suggested donation of $10 to cover the cost of materials. Participants will learn various techniques and can expect to walk away from the session with several books.
