UKRAINIAN VILLAGE — A brick cottage in the heart of Ukrainian Village's Landmark District went on the market this week with an asking price of $524,500.

Built in 1892, the 1,680-square-foot home is located at 2220 W. Augusta Blvd., about two blocks west of Damen Avenue.

The home is "structurally fit with solid bones" and has an opportunity for a back addition, according to Realtor Mario Greco's listing on Redfin.

While raking his front lawn early Wednesday, the home's longtime owner Lukas Krynicki said that he and his wife, who've lived in the cottage since 1986, are ready to move on.

"It's a great neighborhood with good public schools. The house needs some work but it is in good shape," Krynicki said.

Due to the fact the home is in a Landmark District, a new owner would not be able to tear it down, Krynicki said.

The 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home features a wood burning fireplace, a white tiled kitchen with a walk-in pantry and a basement rec room large enough for a fourth bedroom. There is a garage with a new roof in the back of the property.
