Shooting Near Belmont Red Line Station Leaves Man Wounded, Police Say

LAKEVIEW — A 22-year-old man was shot in his buttocks in a "possible drive-by" near the Belmont Red Line station early Tuesday morning, police said.

At 4:40 a.m., the man walked into Illinois Masonic Hospital after having been shot in the 1000 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to a police incident report.

Police could not provide the man's condition but said he was stable.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

Officials could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.
