CHICAGO — The city will get its first taste of fall this week as cooler weather moves in.

Monday will be a "really, really nice beginning to the week," AccuWeather meteorologist Ed Vallee said. There will be a lot of sunshine and high temperatures in the upper 70s. Humidity will be low.

"A really, really nice fall day — or late summer day, I guess, technically," Vallee said.

The nice weather will continue on Tuesday. Temperatures will hit the upper 70s again, Vallee said. Humidity will be a bit higher, bringing thunderstorms in the afternoon. Those storms could continue into the night, and a cold front will sweep through the area starting in the evening, Vallee said.

Wednesday will be chillier with a high temperature in the upper 60s, but the day will be mostly sunny, and humidity will be low. That nice weather will last into Thursday, when temperatures will be in the low 70s. The skies will be sunny with some clouds, Vallee said, and humidity will stay down.

Friday will see humidity and temperatures rise — temperatures should hit the mid-70s — but the day should be rain-free, Vallee said.

"This time of the year is where we really start seeing the average temperature start to drop," Vallee said. "We're starting to see those temperatures come down on average. This is all going to plan, so to speak, for the time of the year."
