BUCKTOWN — A cottage built in 1891 will be demolished in the coming days and eventually replaced by an 8,100-square-foot, six-bedroom mansion.

Environs Development, a maker of custom homes, bought the 2,000-square-foot cottage at 1832-34 N. Honore St. for $1.65 million in July and got a demolition permit last Friday, records show.

The double lot buy included a new garage addition that was added to the back of the cottage last year that will also get razed.

The soon-to-be built home, listed for $4.5 million on Environs website along with a design rendering, is described as an "incredible opportunity" and "amazing."

Kenneth F. Brinkman, president of Environs Development, did not return requests for comment, nor did Realtor Kevin Wood, who will be listing the new home, located less than one block north of the elevated Bloomingdale Trail and a few blocks east of the Milwaukee, Damen and North avenues intersection.

This home will feature six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a rooftop deck and a backyard, along with an attached and heated four-car garage. Read more on Environs' website.
