Man Killed, 19 Wounded In Shootings Since Tuesday, Police Say

CHICAGO — A man was killed and 18 other people were wounded in shootings around the city between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, police said.

The man, 20, died after a drive-by shooting that also left an 18-year-old man wounded near Thalia Hall in Pilsen.

Between 7:40 and 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, three separate shootings left six people wounded in Englewood.

• Most recently, at 7:01 a.m. Wednesday, a 22-year-old man was shot in the 11800 block of South Prairie Avenue in West Pullman, according to Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center after being shot in his right hip and right calf, Amezaga said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

• At 1:57 a.m., a 19-year-old man was walking in the 1200 block of South Avers Avenue in North Lawndale when someone shot him multiple times, according to a police incident report.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 12:17 a.m., a 17-year-old was shot in his leg in Little Village.

• At 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, a 23-year-old man was sitting in a car in the 7400 block of South Perry Avenue in Park Manor when someone fired shots through his windshield, police said.

The man refused medical attention for a graze wound in his face, police said.

• At 9:40 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in his groin and his left arm in the 5400 block of West Jackson Boulevard in Austin, police said.

The boy was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was considered "stable," police said.

Police said the boy was not cooperative with authorities and did not provide any other information about the shooting.

• At 9:05 p.m., two men were standing at the corner of 78th Street and Maryland Avenue in Chatham when someone shot at them from a passing car, police said.

One man, 18, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his right leg. The other man, 25, was shot in his left forearm and taken to Jackson Park Hospital.

Both men were listed in good condition, police said.

Police said the older man is a documented gang member.

• At 7:58 p.m., a 25-year-old man was standing in the 4400 block of South Marshfield Avenue in Back of the Yards when he heard gunshots and felt pain, according to Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man brought himself to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his stomach.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 7:11 p.m., a man and a teenage boy were shot in the 1200 block of South Lawndale Avenue in North Lawndale, Tannehill said.

The man, 21, was shot in his buttocks, Tannehill said, and the the boy, 16, was shot in his knee.

Both men were brought to Mount Sinai, where they were listed in good condition, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 4:52 p.m., a 25-year-old man was riding a bicycle in the 600 block of East 42nd Street in Bronzeville when someone shot at him from a light-colored van, Tannehill said.

The man was brought to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition after being shot twice in his leg, police said.

• At 4:47 p.m., a 19-year-old man was walking in the 7000 block of South Prairie Avenue in Park Manor when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his buttocks and forearm, Tannehill said.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition, Tannehill said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, police said.
