Roberto Rodriguez Jr., 21, Dies After West Lawn Shooting

WEST LAWN — Roberto Rodriguez Jr. died after being shot in West Lawn on Sunday evening, according to officials.

Rodriguez, 21, was one of three people shot at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, according to police. They were on the sidewalk in the 6200 block of South Kenneth Avenue when someone walked up and began shooting.

Rodriguez was hit multiple times and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

He was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m. Monday morning, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He lived on the same block where he was killed.

A 24-year-old man was hit in his left arm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in what police were considering stable condition. A 17-year-old man was struck in his leg and was also taken to Sinai Hospital in what police called "stable" condition.

No one is in custody for the shooting, police said.
