CHICAGO — Two people were killed and eight were hurt in shootings on the city's South and West sides between Monday and Tuesday mornings, police said.

• At 10:11 p.m. Monday, a 16-year-old boy was shot dead in Austin. A 15-year-old was also wounded in the attack.

• A 34-year-old man was gunned down at 5:15 p.m. in North Lawndale.

In non-fatal shootings:

• Most recently, at 11:56 p.m. Monday, a 21-year-old man was walking in the 2900 block of West Walnut Street in East Garfield Park when another man walked up and shot at him before running away, according to a police incident report.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital after being shot twice in his leg and once in his hand, police said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Police said the man did not appear to be gang-affiliated.

• At 8:55 p.m., a 22-year-old man was sitting in a car with a "witness" in the 8000 block of South May Street in Auburn Gresham when an acquaintance got into the back seat and shot him in the back of his head, police said.

The shooter tried to take control of the car and drive away, but the "witness" pulled the shooter out of the car and drove the man to Little Company of Mary Hospital.

The man was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he was considered "stable," police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 9:08 p.m., two men were standing in a gangway in the 5600 block of South Wabash Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood when someone shot at them, police said.

Both men were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.

One man, 28, was listed in critical condition after being shot in his abdomen, police said. The other man, 32, was in fair condition after being shot twice in his arm.

Police said both men are gang-affiliated.

• At 12 p.m. Monday, two men were shot and wounded while sitting on a porch in Englewood.

• At 10:26 a.m. Monday morning, a 21-year-old man was standing in the 7800 block of South Essex Avenue in South Shore when a man jumped out of a nearby gray car and shot at him, according to Officer Kevin Quaid, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was considered "stable" with a gunshot wound in his left leg, Quaid said.

Police said the shooting appeared to be gang-related.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, police said.
