CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man was killed and a 19-year-old man was wounded in separate Austin shootings since Sunday, according to police.

At 4:20 p.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old man was on the sidewalk in the 5400 block of West Jackson Boulevard when shots rang out, said Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was ultimately pronounced dead, Zala said.

The man has been identified as Terrence Murphy, who lived in the same block where he was killed Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A 19-year-old man was wounded in a separate Austin attack at 1:45 a.m. Monday, police said in an incident report.

He was outside in the 5200 block of West Washington Boulevard when someone in black clothes walked up and fired shots, police said.

He was hit in his right leg and right hand and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

No arrests were made.
