WICKER PARK — Police are looking for a man who broke into three Wicker Park homes and attempted to sexually assault women in two of the locations on Friday.

Around 12:45 a.m. Friday, a woman was asleep in her bedroom in the 1400 block of North Greenview Avenue and woke to find a man standing at the foot of her bed with his pants down, according to a community alert issued by Area North detectives.

Police said the victim "pleaded with [the man] not to hurt her when he subsequently removed numerous items and fled."

Evidence suggests that the man may have gotten into the home through a window, police said.

Later the same day, around 11:10 p.m. Friday, a woman was sleeping in her bedroom in the 1800 block of West Evergreen Avenue when she woken up by a man in her room who was naked from the waist down, police said.

The man was on top of the woman and covering her mouth with his hand. She pleaded for help and was ultimately able to break free, police said. She watched the man escape through a bedroom window.

Another break-in was reported around 10:45 p.m. Friday, when residents were in their home in the 1200 block of North Wood Street when they heard noises coming from the rear bedroom, police said.

The residents went to see what was going on and noticed that the bedroom door was locked from the inside, police said. They pushed through the door and the suspect had fled through a window.

Police are urging residents to call 911 to report any suspicious people, vehicles or activity in the area and to make sure doors and windows to homes are secured.

DNAinfo has reached out to police for further details about the suspect, and this story will be updated when that information becomes available.
