By Kelly Bauer | August 26, 2016 11:17am

CHICAGO — Police are investigating after a Riverdale car crash left a 27-year-old woman dead Thursday.

About 4 p.m., Helenia Lewis, 27, was driving near the 800 block of East 130th Street when someone in a green Pontiac tried to merge into the lane she was in, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The Pontiac hit Lewis' car and it overturned.

The driver of the Pontiac drove off while Lewis, of Gary, Indiana, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Estrada said. Lewis was pronounced dead at 4:04 p.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.

Police are investigating, Estrada said. No arrests in connection to the case have been made yet.
