LOGAN SQUARE — Seven people were hurt when a man crashed his Honda Civic into a restaurant in Logan Square Saturday night, police said.

At 8:15 p.m., the man drove through a red light at the corner of Fullerton Avenue and Kimball Avenue, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He hit another car and crashed through the front window of Jibaritos Y Mas, 3400 W. Fullerton Ave., police said.

Seven people, including the driver, were taken to area hospitals with "minor injuries," Lemmon said.

The driver, 30-year-old Freddy Franco, was given multiple citations, including driving without a license or insurance.

Police said the crash appeared to have been caused by a "mechanical failure."
