WEST TOWN — Not heading to the Air and Water show this weekend?

Here are a few ideas for things to do instead.

Score Some Deals at an 'Epic' Friday Night Sidewalk Sale. Some 19 Chicago Avenue shops will be "selling end of season goods at steep discounts," according to the sale's Facebook page. Along the way, the new "Luxe" apartment building will host an open house, and there is an after party with free bar snacks planned at Forbidden Root. From 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, along the 1600 to 2100 blocks of West Chicago Avenue.

Meet Carnies, Ride a Ferris Wheel. St. Helen's School's annual carnival offers rides, games, food vendors and live music. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday; noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. On Augusta Boulevard between Western and Oakley avenues.

Immerse Yourself in Ukrainian Culture. The annual "Ukrainian Days" showcases food, merchandise, cultural performances and more. This weekend's gathering will also celebrate the 25th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence from the break-up of the Soviet Union. Visit the festival's Facebook page for updates. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday in Smith Park, 2526 W. Grand Ave.

Cure Your Hangover with an Indulgent Brunch. Links Taproom's new executive chef, Joey Hejtmanek, who formerly worked with Big Star and Avec, launched a new brunch menu.  Standouts include a steak and ale sausage on a French toast bun, curry chicken sausage gravy poutine and chilaquiles. Brunch hours are 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Links Taproom, 1559 N. Milwaukee.

Find Out If You Are Eligible to Live in Reduced Rent Apartments. According to Ald. Joe Moreno's (1st) e-newsletter, there will be a workshop for folks interested in renting affordable apartments in new buildings underway at 1664 W. Division St., 2733 W. Beldon Ave. and 2210 N. Washtenaw. Income limits apply. The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at 2740 W. North Ave.

Bring Your Musical Talent to a Unique Outdoor Jam.  Join musicians from the famed Chicago Philharmonic for an outdoor concert experience, as an audience member or performer! Music lovers are invited to bring their instruments and play alongside professionals, creating an orchestra for a fun symphonic concert. Rehearsal runs from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. and the performance will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Free. Humboldt Park Boathouse, 1301 N. Sacramento Blvd.

Visit the Wicker Park Farmers Market. Score fresh veggies, meat, eggs, pastries, pasta, jam, bagels, honey, coffee from Ipsento, "agua frescas" from Dove's Luncheonette and crepes made on-site. Check the market's website to see the full vendor list. The Wicker Park Farmers Market is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday through Oct. 30 in the park, 1425 N. Damen Ave.
