LOGAN SQUARE — Comfort Station, a cultural hub of Logan Square, is hosting its annual fundraising party this weekend.
The little cabin-like station near the Illinois Centennial Monument, which holds events nearly every night of the week, is hosting a day-long concert to raise money to support its programming.
The party kicks off at 3 p.m. Saturday and will include music throughout the day and a beer garden with local brews provided by Revolution Brewing.
Wristbands for the event cost $20 and include access to the beer garden and live music until 10 p.m.
Participating bands include The Yolks, Vamos, Flesh Panthers, Dumpster Babies, White Mystery, Glyders, Comm to Black, Vacant Vessel, The Bingers, Wet Piss and Richard Vain.
Comfort Station was one of nine identical stations built in 1926 and 1927 by the West Chicago Parks Commission along the Park Boulevard System to serve as warming buildings and public restrooms along transit lines.
There are only two still standing, the Comfort Station in Logan Square and a building along Austin Avenue in Columbus Park, according to a Comfort Station history.
The space, 2579 N. Milwaukee Ave., hosts events throughout the year including film screenings, art exhibitions, concerts, lectures and more.
