Englewood Shooting Kills Mbiganyi Lashani, 41, Police Say

CHICAGO — Authorities have released the name of a 41-year-old man found shot to death in Englewood in late July.

At 6 a.m. on July 29, officers responding to a call of shots fired found the man in the 6500 block of South Peoria Avenue, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene, Trainor said.

He has been identified as Mbiganyi Lashani, of the 3200 block of West Walnut Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Lashani was pronounced dead at 6:20 a.m.

The medical examiner's office was withholding Lashani's name as they attempted to reach his next of kim. The medical examiner released Lashani's name Tuesday "with the hope that friends or family come forward," a spokeswoman said.
