CHICAGO — A 24-year-old man shot in a Garfield Park attack Friday has died from his injuries, according to authorities.

At 11:05 p.m. Friday, Taylon Hughes, 24, was sitting in a car with a 40-year-old woman in the 4400 block of West Jackson Street, according to Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A car pulled up to them and someone inside opened fire, Trainor said.

The woman was shot in her head and managed to get herself to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Trainor said.

Hughes, of Morgan Park, was also struck in his head and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he remained until he died from his injuries Sunday night, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Hughes was a documented gang member, according to police.

Police initially said that only the woman was shot in the incident.

No arrests have been made.
