ENGLEWOOD — Two officer-involved shootings were reported on the city's South Side within an hour of each other Thursday evening, according to preliminary reports from authorities.
At 6:50 p.m., officers responded to a call of a robbery in progress in the 6700 block of South May, where they saw a man fleeing through a gangway, according to a police statement.
Officers saw that the man had a gun and they told him to drop it, police said. He didn't, and the officers shot the man in his "lower extremities."
The man was brought to Stroger Hospital in fair-to-serious condition, according to Fire Department officials.
The second shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of 74th Street and Merrill Avenue, police said.
Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shootings.
