WEST ENGLEWOOD — A 38-year-old man was shot in his leg during an argument in Englewood Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Around 4:30 p.m., the man was sitting in a car in the 5700 block of South Bishop Street and arguing with a group of men on the street when one of them pulled out a gun and shot at him, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago police spokesman.

The man was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound in his left leg, Zala said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

No one is in custody, police said.
